Accessibility

How we build this website to be usable by everyone, the gaps we know about and are fixing, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

Wealthy Expat wants this website to be usable by everyone, whatever tools they browse with. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we check new pages and components against that standard before they ship.

Every page is navigable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every control. The matcher's dropdowns are proper comboboxes that keep focus on the control and announce the active option; its option chips are grouped and labelled so a screen reader knows which question each answers. Step changes in the matcher are announced, and the new screen's title receives focus.

Colour is never the only carrier of meaning: status badges carry text, chart marks carry labels, and every image that conveys information has a text alternative. Text scales with your browser settings and reflows down to narrow phone widths without horizontal scrolling.

Motion respects your system preference: with reduced motion enabled, transitions and entrance animations are switched off. The Global Map has a list equivalent of everything it shows, its markers are reachable by keyboard, and the map itself is a supplemental view, never the only way to reach a program.

Forms label every field, mark required ones, explain errors next to the field they concern, and never rely on a time limit. Legal pages print cleanly.

Some navigation menus, form error messages and required-field markers do not yet behave as described above. Fixing them is scheduled in the current site rework.

A few pages do not yet declare a main landmark, which makes skipping to content slower for some screen readers; this is on the list to fix. Third-party services linked from the site — the booking calendar, YouTube, Trustpilot and social networks — are governed by their own accessibility practices.

If any part of this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, tell us through the contact page and say which page and which assistive technology you were using. We answer accessibility reports as a priority and fix what we can in the next release.

This statement is reviewed whenever the site changes materially and at least once a year. The “Last updated” date at the end of this page shows the last review.
