The opportunity

Why Turkey

Turkey grants citizenship for a qualifying investment held three years — USD 400,000 in real estate, or USD 500,000 in a bank deposit, government bonds, fund units or fixed capital — in an estimated 3–5 months, with no requirement to live in Turkey and no need to give up your current nationality.

Who it suits

May fit. May not.

Turkey suits investors who want a second citizenship without relocating and can keep capital invested for three years. The two lists show where it fits and where another program serves better.

May fit if you want

  • A second citizenship without moving to Turkey or spending time there.
  • One application covering you, your spouse and children under 18.
  • Holding a property, deposit, bond or fund position for three years.

May not fit if you need

  • Visa-free Schengen or US travel on this passport — both still require a visa.
  • Including adult children without a qualifying disability, or parents and grandparents.
  • Selling the qualifying investment before the three-year hold ends.

Qualifying routes

Available routes

Minimums differ materially by route — there is no single universal figure. Amounts are indicative and confirmed with the authority before any engagement.

  • Real estate

Hold the property for at least 3 years under a title-deed resale restriction; an independent appraiser confirms the value.

Requirements

Eligibility and documents

There is no residence or language requirement on the investment route. Applicants need a clean record, the qualifying investment and a short set of certified documents; a spouse and children under 18 join the same application.

How it works

Application process

Four steps take an application from investment to passport. The source estimates 3 to 5 months end to end, and every grant is a presidential decision.

  1. Select and complete the qualifying investment

Buy the property, or place the deposit, bonds, fund units or fixed capital for your route.

Route authority: Land Registry and Cadastre (real estate), Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (deposits), Ministry of Treasury and Finance (bonds), Capital Markets Board (funds), Ministry of Industry and Technology (fixed capital).

  2. Obtain the conformity certificate

The route authority certifies that the investment meets the threshold.

Same route authority as step 1.

  3. Apply for residence permit and citizenship

File the residence permit and citizenship application against the certificate.

Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye — every grant is a presidential decision.

  4. Citizenship issuance

Receive the citizenship certificate; passports follow.
